My daughter is crazy about Dora the Explorer, so I decided that I would make her a Dora cake. I used chocolate cake with strawberries and pineapple. I used pudding for the filling. Strawberry frosting to cover the cake & white/pink icings for the design. The cake overall took me a 1 hour and 40 minutes to due. This includes baking the cakes and designing them.
I made the cake using a recipe that I found online. I recommend that you make a cake that is thick. Thickness will help when cutting the center of the cake. You need to cut the center of the cake to place the doll (Dora) inside the cake. A doll of this size can usually be found at walmart, k-mart, or a local store. You can also use a cake topper.
When choosing a doll, think about the size of cake you want to make and how large you want the cake to be. For my cake, I knew that I had to at least feed about 30+ people and I wanted there to be some left over. My doll was between 5-8inches. My cake was about 10 pounds and was about the size of a large microwave pizza.
My daughter loved the cake!
