My daughter wanted a frog themed party for her third birthday. I tried to buy a retired Wiltons frog pan from EBay but the prices just got ridiculous. Then I was browsing through my mother-in-laws old Wiltons yearbooks for a frog birthday cake recipe and saw a frog cake made using a bell pan.
The pan uses half a box of cake mix so I figured she’s turning three I’ll make her three frogs. I followed the instructions that came with the pan for one of the frogs then just improvised to get the tree frog (her favorite) and spotted frogs. I also made lily pad and pond lily sugar cookies to go with. I used Wiltons paste coloring and a basic buttercream frosting recipe (1c butter, 1c shortening, 2t vanilla, pinch of salt, 2lb confectioners sugar and milk to consistency).
