Coolest Hippogriff Cake from Harry Potter

My son is a big Harry Potter fan and really wanted a cake with a hippogriff! Having no clue how to draw a hippogriff I went in search on the web for Harry Potter characters. I found a few but none really fit the bill. So I sketched my, own using a few others as ‘templates’.

Once I was satisfied with the final drawing I taped a piece of wax paper over it and outlined the drawing with piping gel. I put this on the top of the cake and traced the outline with black icing. Then I filled in the hind quarters with chocolate frosting. To create the ‘feathers’ on the front of the animal I used a leaf tip. The tail and grass were made with the hair tip.
