This is my first fondant cake. I used a 8×8 pan and made a home made chocolate cake. While my cake baked I tinted my white marshmellow fondant this pretty sunflower yellow you see here. After kneading in the color my daughter created a stencil for me out of wax paper in the shape of a butterfly. I then placed a few chocolate chips in a ziplock bag and melted the chips, after melting the chips for about 40 sec in the micro I then snipped the tip and traced the outline of the butterfly. I did the same with orange melts and filled in the butterlys. I let the butterflys sit in the fridge till they harden while I rolled out the fondant. Once I placed the fondant over my cake I then smoothed out the cake then placed the butterflys over the cake. I used a few drops of the melted chocolate to glue the butterflys onto the cake. This is how my daughter and I created our very first butterfly fondant cake. Yay! Just an FYI, I was able to research on line how to make marshmellow fondant, well worth all the effort.
I must say having had Audreys cake numerous times; it tastes better than it looks. Quite simply the best I’ve ever had … Really. And it would look better if she didn’t have her little monsters help, but whatever, she seems to think family is “important”.
