When a 6 year old asks you to make him a cake that looks like a dragon, what do you do? You learn to bake. This was my first ever attempt at making a cake that didn’t fit into the typical square box mold. It was a challenge but so much fun.
I made a simple chocolate cake and used instructions I found on-line at familyfun.com. I used home made frosting with neon green food coloring for the body and pecans for the claws at the dragon’s feet. I melted down some chocolate wafers and cut them in triangles to made the spikes on his back in 2 colors (white chocolate works best to mix colors. I saved 2 circle wafers to use as his eyes and then let imagination run wild to decorate. I also included some shredded coconut on his back to look like dry skin.
I can’t believe this cake is your first of this type. Great job! I love the color and the personality. Very well done.
