I do not have much to add to the wonderful tips that I already found on your website, except for 2 things:
1) I found a delicious recipe for caramel icing on the Domino Confectioners Sugar package that was just the right color for the hamburger bun. Here’s the recipe…2/3 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla…melt butter in saucepan, add sugar and milk, heat to boiling stirring constantly for 5 min, cool 10 min, beat in confectioners sugar. I found it a bit thick so I added 3 tablespoons of water.
2) I used slivered almonds for the sesame seeds on the bun.
I used a Greek cake recipe to make the “buns” and added cocoa to the same recipe for the “hamburger”. Here’s the recipe…3 eggs, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup warm milk, 1 cup olive oil, 2 1/4 cups flour, 3 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp vanilla (add 3/4 cup cocoa for the chocolate cake). Mix together eggs; add warm milk, olive oil, and vanilla; add dry ingredients and bake 350 degrees until done. Enjoy!
