This cake was for my son’s 9th birthday. I used a petite loaf pan for the individual blocks with 2/3 of a large marshmallow for the connectors. I iced the chocolate blocks for my son’s preference but left the icing off of the blue & purple white cake blocks. Level, ice & allow the icing to set (very important step). To get the plastic glossy look I used a ganche recipe. Melt 1 14 oz. bag of chopped vanilla, colored (or white if you want to add your own color with gel color only) candy melts in 1/2 cup of almost boiling heavy whipping cream till smooth. Place cakes to ice on a cooling rack with a drip pan under them. I put the ganache into a plastic squeeze bottle for control. Pour over marshmallows first & let it drip over rest of block. There will be a little melting which I allowed for when cutting the marshmallows. Let dry for a couple of hours before stacking. My round block was made with a 6″x3″ party pan. Decorate. Even the adults couldn’t resist trying & loving this cake. The candy coating even seals in the moistness. I actually prefered the white cake without icing & only the vanilla candy coating. Have fun, thanks to all the others that posted their cakes that gave me great ideas for mine!
