I am a ‘hobby cake maker so I make lots of cakes for family and friends. I made this cake for my cousins granddaughter’s 8th birthday. Emily is Magic Mad and her parents had arranged for a magician to attend her birthday party !! The cake is a 3 tier chocolate sponge with chocolate butter cream and black cherry filling. I made the rim of top hat from a thin cake board with the center cut out and covered it in black fondant. The rabbit is made of fondant and its the first fondant model I have ever made. The playing cards are printed rice paper on thin fondant. I made a wand and concealed a sparkle candle in the end of it so that when it was lit the wand sparkled like a truly magical wand. Emily thought it really was a magical wand. I sprayed the ‘fabric’ fondant with a clear glaze so it look like the silk scarves that magicians use.
Everything I made is edible including the playing cards. Emily really did have a ‘Magical Party’.
