For his party with friends, we made the El Toro Loco Cake I previously submitted. For his actual birthday, I made a sheet cake into a monster truck rally.
I baked a 9X13 cake and made several extra cupcakes. Once they were all cool, I cut the cupcakes down and “glued” them onto the sheet cake with icing. I iced the cake with my friend’s buttercream icing, making sure it wasn’t smooth so that it resembled mud. I used crushed oreos and brown sugar to make the icing look more like a dirt track. This, incidentally, gave the cake a really delicious crunch. I colored just a bit of the icing green and piped on some grass and a border.
I took the two plastic “crash cars” from his Monster Jam Crash Cage and pressed them into the icing. I used used two of his monster trucks and arranged them to look as if they were going through the course.
It took very little time and was super cute.
This cake looks wonderful!! I’d love to know more if you have further basic instructions I’d really appreciate it! I’m throwing my son a 4th bday party in Monster trucks and would LOVE to make him a cake! This looks awesome, great job!!!
