I made this carousel cake for my friend’s 4-year-old. She loves My Little Ponies, so I used the Wilton’s Carousel Cake Kit, and substituted the horses in the kit for some tiny (2 inch) My Little Pony figures. They happened to have a convenient hole in the hoof, so I stuck a straw in the cake for a support, and a dowel inside the straw to go in the pony’s hoof. I used a clear plastic cup for the center column (since I wasn’t using the Wilton supports), and stuffed it with Holiday lights, then cut a slice in the cake so the cord came out the bottom.
I used Wilton fondant molds for hearts, flowers and scroll work to decorate the chocolate cake, and frosted it with butter cream. It was a huge hit!
