I saw on this site several ways to make a pirate ship cake. I desperately wanted to make one for my son’s 2nd Birthday Party. Yes, he is only two, but is obsessed with pirates. I thought this came out great! I made three 9×13 cakes. I evened them all out, and then layered 2 with frosting between the layers. I then carved the cakes into a milk carton shape. I then took the 3rd cake and used it to build up the bough and the galley of the ship. We iced the cake with Chocolate frosting, and mixed chocolate and vanilla for the top levels of the cake. I then piped chocolate around the ship for the rails, and detail. I added pirate duckies, used rolos for cannons on the side and a kit kat bar for the plank. I also added Hershey nuggets and whoppers for gold and cannon balls.
