My son likes pirates and the Veggie Tales, so I decided to make him a pirate birthday. I don’t like skulls so I made everything, from the invitations to the cake. I used some images that I downloaded from the internet. I made the cake from scratch, using a Puertorrican wedding cake recipe. Its a really moist recipe cake, made with brandy and vanilla flavor. I used a buttercream frosting, mixing colors to create the drawings on the cake. It took me three hours to decorate the cakes. I made two cakes, one of them with the pirates, and I changed the mushroom on the pirate hat with a #5, to identify how old my son was, I decorate the other one with the candles and little cheese fries monsters singing Happy Birthday. Making homemade cakes is hard work but is worth it. Everybody love the theme, the cake and all the flavors in it.
