This was a birthday cake for a family member who is a florist so I wanted to include some kind of flower. It was also for a guy so I wanted to make it more “male” colors. I used one of my homemade cake recipes and made two 10″ square cakes and two 8″ square cakes. I filled layers with frosting then covered with a thin coat of same frosting. I colored and rolled the fondant. This was the first time I had ever done a square cake and the corners proved to be a bit tricky!
The dots and flowers are just cut out fondant that I attached using a small paint brush and some water. To cover up the messy bottoms I wrapped blue ribbon around the bottom of each layer.
