This Sesame Street cake was for my youngest’s 2nd birthday. At this point I was just doing simple cakes. Boxed cake mix and tub frosting. Making homemade cakes became a necessity as the price of store bought cakes became too expensive.
I used an 11×15 sheet pan and made 2 cakes (4 boxes of mix). I used vanilla frosting and just tinted some for each character. I had Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Elmo and Grover.
I traced the pattern I wanted on the frosting with a toothpick and piped in the color for each character. I added different colored circles to match the party ware. This cake shows that anyone can make a great cake at home for a fraction of store bought.
