This is a cake I made for a friends grandson. He was really into snakes frogs and bugs. Everything on the cake is edible. Including the rat hanging out of the snakes mouth.
I used Dougnuts to make the snake. I stacked 3 and then I cut one into 3rds and used a 3rd for his head and a 3rd for his tail. The other 3rd I ate.
On the top layer or tier is of course the snake with his dinner hanging out his mouth. along with other rats in front of him. The rats are gummy candy. there are also gummy worms, giant ants, gummy frogs, lady bugs, and bees. The ants are made of Boston baked beans(BBB) and pull apart twizzlers. The lady bugs are also made from BBB and spotted with black food coloring. The bees are gumdrops wrapped with slices of gummy worms.
The bottom tier has all the same lovely bugs and rats that the top tier has plus there are 2 one foot long snake sucker that I found at a local craft store.
This cake took 4 boxes of cake mix and about 4 pounds of butter cream icing. This was the first time I got to use my grass tip icing decorating tip. I spent at least week perfecting this cake. The kids at the party couldn’t take their eyes off of it! That’s my daughter Emily in the picture.
My daughters Strawberry Shortcake birthday cake is also on this site. Making cakes is just a hobby of mine. I will be submitting more cakes in the future. I hope everyone likes them!
