My nephew wanted a specialty cake and this is what I came up with. The brown icing is chocolate butter cream with peanut butter added (Yumm). I piled the icing in one corner and covered with maple nut goodies to make the “hill” then smeared the blue icing like it was running down and joining the river which was just blue butter cream.
The trees (my favorite part, the kids loved them too) are just upside down sugar cones with green icing sitting on a pretzel rod. I broke the edges of the cones to make them more realistic and varied the length of the pretzel rods. The “fire” is broken pretzel rods with a little red coloring and brown peanut M&M’s for the rocks then I added the little deer and the fishing stuff I found at hobby lobby in the doll house section

This specialty cake was one of the easiest cakes I have ever made! It is just a sheet cake from a box mix and canned frosting. I tinted one can blue and one green, frosted the whole thing and piped the blue water on.
I added a little decorator gel in a darker blue to give it a wavy effect. I covered two ice cream cones with green frosting and then rolled them in green sugar crystals for the trees. For the rocks I broke up some marshmallows and rolled them into rock shapes then I took a little black gel paste on a damp paper towel and dabbed the marshmallows. Green gum drops for bushes and sprinkled flowers around the grass. The Dora dolls came as one kit that was just in they toy section of the store.

I made this cake for my sister’s Father-in-Law’s 60th Birthday / Retirement party. He loves fishing so it was appropriate! The bridge is a Crispy bar and the sides, trees and fish are pieces I got from a local Cake Supply store. It was Super easy to ice (I used butter cream icing and paste colorings). I used a star tip and a spatula for the water effect. Pretty simple and he loved it!!!
