Sweetest Skittles Birthday Cake

To create this cake I mixed my cake mix and separated it into 5 bowls. With it being a skittles cake I felt the birthday boy needed to “taste the rainbow” feeling with the batter. I colored the batter red, yellow, green, blue and purple. Then placing a little batter at a time I created my rainbow!

After it cooled I frosted it with homemade buttercream frosting and covered in red fondant. Then I designed the skittles bag piece by piece on my cake. For the net weight and size I incorporated the child’s birthday and age he was turningi also made the bag look open and ripped with real skittles exploding out. The response from the kid was “It’s so beast!!” That is current English for awesome!!

I was not excited for this cake because I am not fond of fondant. However after this experience I am more open to using fondant on more of my cakes and I really enjoyed creating this cake!!
