First, I found an image of Sweetie Belle online and I enlarged it and printed it onto 2 pieces of paper, which I taped together. Using two Betty Crocker French Vanilla cake mixes, I baked the cake in an 11×15 sheet pan for 40 minutes. I crumb coated the cake in Betty Crocker Whipped Cream Cheese frosting and refrigerated it. I then tinted 3 containers of the same frosting with Wilton Goldenrod color. After icing the cake with the yellow frosting, I again refrigerated it. While the frosting hardened, I mixed 16 cups of royal icing and divided it up. Using Wilton Black, I tinted just enough icing to fit into one Wilton candy melting squeeze jar to be used to trace the outline of the pony onto the cake. Using Wilton Violet and Pink colors, I thinned down the royal icing using a bit of lemon juice and then tinted three different shades of Violet and one Pink, putting them into squeeze jars. After piping the outline, I placed the cake back into the fridge to harden. After an hour, I squeezed the alternating colors into the outline and let them settle into the corners, occasionally using a toothpick to spread the icing. I then wrote on the cake using a Wilton Kelly Blue icing tube, which had been placed into a bowl of warm water to make the icing more fluid. Once it was completed, I had Sweetie Belle on a cake!
