Easy Homemade Oreo-Wheels Tank Cake

My son wanted a tank cake for his 10th birthday. I looked at several ideas directly from this site and modified to come up with the final creation.

I used a small baking dish for the main body of the tank and a meatloaf pan for the upper portion. I sculpted both so the scale would be appropriate. I used black gel to create the pattern and then filled in with the different icing colors.

I used Oreos for the hatch on the top and for the wheels. I also found chocolate covered tootsie rolls for the track. The most challenging was the gun. I came upon a chocolate covered nestle crunch stick.

The cake was a hit and everyone was so impressed. The cake was not that difficult to create. I mixed the black and green icing colors with gel food coloring but only used chocolate icing for the brown.
