I wanted to make a special cake for my husband on his birthday and I didn’t want a tradition square cake or a store bought cake.
My husband is a Marine and I wanted to do something with a Military theme and since his MOS was Motor Transport and tanks are certainly a part of that, the idea was formed.
I used a 9×13 pan for the base, a loaf pan for the mid section and a small metal bowl for the top, I tinted white frosting to make it the right color green and then used a large pretzel rod for the gun, Oreo’s for the wheels and a Hershey bar broken into the already formed pieces for the tracks; add the plastic Military men and you are ready for battle!
This was a hit at the party, and since that time I have been asked to make them for enlistment parties, deployment gatherings and for friends that have little boys that love to play with tanks.
This was a fun project and I am glad that I was able to do it all with items easily found in my kitchen, no special purchases were required. I encourage anyone that has Military Personnel in thier circle of friends or in thier families to try this cake!
Sorry, my fingers get ahead of my brain sometimes!
