I started to make my own cakes because my kids always chose themes you could not buy in the supermarkets. For this Teletubbies I just used a basic sponge recipe and baked it in a round Pyrex pudding bowl. Covered with green sugar paste and made some Teletubbies to sit on top.

I did this Teletubies cake for my son’s 2nd birthday. It’s a pretty big cake you may prefer to scale it down a bit. I used 2- 23cm square cake tins and cut out the tubby shape and iced with butter icing.
To make the face I tinted ready-made soft icing a light caramel. Use some of this icing to make ears. Then I put a large triangular piece of soft icing onto a large biscuit (to make the snout section) and then covered it with some more icing to make the tubby face.
Push into the icing to make eye indents and cut into the icing to make the nose and mouth features. I used brown Smarties for the eyes and stuck one into the mouth for a tongue. I covered a biscuit with butter and pressed into 100s and 1000s and piped the number two on with butter icing. I also piped Po’s head feature with butter icing.
