I made this cake for my son’s 3rd birthday. I used several ideas from this website to come up with this fantastic cake! I used the 3D cake pan for the Thomas and than small loaf pans for the trains. I baked all the cakes a couple of days prior and froze them so they would be firmer while decorating. The track was made using black licorice and the rail ties were Twix candy bars(suggestion from this website). The coal in the first car was black licorice ropes cut into small pieces. The wheels on Thomas were large oreo cookies and on the cars were small oreo cookies. I was going to use green coconut (another suggestion from website) to simulate grass but the party was outside and it was a windy day so I decided against it. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful ideas to make this great cake that my son loved!!
