I made this Tidmouth Sheds cake for my son’s 2nd birthday. It is a chocolate mud cake covered in Marshmallow Fondant. I made all figurines e.g. train lighthouse, tracks, trees and rocks from fondant. I used the flooding technique to make the bridge and piped the sheep with royal icing.
The sea is blue gelatin. It took me a long time to make but I enjoyed it very much.
Another Tidmouth Sheds Cake
My son Alex wanted me to recreate Tidmouth Sheds for his cake. This was the closest I could come.
I made three layers of 8 x 13 cake and stacked them with buttercream in between. I then cut the edges of the backside to round it and cut into the front in a semicircle to create the opening for the doors. I iced it in dark grey buttercream and then added bricks in orange with red streaks, using the basket weave tip and leaving space for the windows and doors.
I iced the board with dark grey, adding a turntable and tracks.
We placed a plastic Tomy Henry on the track. The kids all loved it but most importantly my son was thrilled!
