I made this cake for my son’s 5th birthday. Both the “lid” and the “box” is cake, with the “lid” on a thin sheet of wood and held up on either side with 2 wooden skewers, which I covered by “dripping” with yellow icing. The “outside” of the chest is frosted with chocolate frosting. The “straps” are fruit rolls, and the “studs” are lemon drops. Inside the “chest” I frosted first with white frosting, then put rolos, chocolate coins, candy fish, jelly bellys “inside” the “box”. I put all this on a piece of white foam board, frosted the board a little with white frosting, then crushed graham crackers to make “sand”.
