This guitar cake was made to match a favorite guitar. I baked 2 11×15-in cakes and layered them together. To make the guitar shape, I really struggled with how to get an image that big, but then I remembered…my 5-year-old daughter had a little Barbie Fender guitar!! So I used it to trace an image on a piece of cardboard and used that on the cake!
I then iced it and covered it in homemade fondant. All of the pieces (knobs, whammy bar, etc.) were sculpted with fondant and painted with silver luster dust mixed in clear vanilla extract where needed. The brown and black pieces were fondant tinted with Wilton icing colors.
The strings were white icing piped with tip #3. To make the picture on the tip of the guitar, I blew up the image sent in an email and printed it off. I traced around it on fondant that I tinted with golden yellow and brown. I then used red color with a super fine brush to paint the details of the image. The “Fun House” was piped with white icing and tip #1.
