My daughter wanted a “Movie Star” party. So I decided for a Hollywood cake to make a Walk-of-Fame star cake. I used an 8×8 cake and frosted it with white frosting. Then I frosted the star with red and used black icing for the rest.
I sprinkled yellow sugar crystals over the entire cake to give it the glittering gold look.
Then I piped on my daughter’s name and placed the candle in the center. It was great and fit into the theme perfectly.
Best of all it was very easy and the kids loved it.

My daughter is a HUGE Hollywood fan and movie buff and wanted a Hollywood themed birthday party for her 10th birthday. I wanted to make her a Hollywood cake of the famous Hollywood Sign (one of her most favorite things!). My Mom does cake decorating as a hobby and took on the task.
For her birthday cake recipe she used a sheet cake and iced it in white icing. She then made a ‘mountain’ out of thick white icing and then air brushed the mountain with greens and browns. She added some plastic palm trees. She also used some little flakes of chocolate shavings for a textured look.
For the Hollywood Sign she cut out the letters using a stencil on white craft foam (typically found in dollar stores in the kids craft section). She attached toothpicks to the letters and stuck them in the mountain. She then trimmed the cake in pink as it is my daughter’s favorite color.
This birthday cake was actually quite simple to make and was a HUGE hit at the party. My daughter was so excited when we first surprised her with it.
