I was asked to make a cake with a fishing theme for my friends dad. As I don’t know anything at all about fishing I had a good look online for idea’s. I finally decided on a chocolate sponge cake filled with chocolate buttercream, covered in chocolate.
I coloured some icing green for the grass and some a marbled affect of blue and green for the pond. I then used piping gel so it looked like water, I used brown sugar for the sand back and melted chocolate for the mud. I made rocks, miniature rose bushes, no fishing sign, old tatty boot, can, a picnic of cheese-tomato sandwiches/apple/banana/flask and blanket and reeds out of icing modeling chocolate and dried spaghetti. I used jelly fish.
Next I made three fishermen in waders with hat’s. The fisherman in yellow was having a nice picnic when a jelly fish jumped out of the pond and into his arms, knocking off his hat. The fisherman in green could only catch an old boot and a can. While the fisherman in red is having a snooze.
The birthday boy was overjoyed with his cake and he didn’t want to cut it. It was really a lot of fun to make :)
